“We have enough of the miseries. My people deserve a better life,”North Cotabato Governor Emmanuel Pinol told participants attending the All Mindanao Leaders’ Peace Consultation here Tuesday at the Royal Mandaya Hotel(see Pinol’s message). The consultation was convened by the Bishops-UlamaConference to help find ways to break the impasse in the peace talks.

Suggestions on how to strengthen the peace process were many, including Very general proposals such as continuous dialogue, continued ceasefire, creativity, exploring extra constitutional options. Concrete suggestions on how to break the impasse on territory, however, Were few and far between, but Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Quevedo, former two-term president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, offered a possible formula, one that puts “the ball in the hands of both sides.” Read story here.
