Power play behind PCCI reconfiguration in Mindanao – Serra

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/21 October) – A group in the Federation of
Business
Chambers in Mindanao plotted a change in leadership for the regional
governors and vice president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and
Industry-Mindanao “so they could win elections and take control,”
leading to
a reconfiguration of chamber regions and elections for new officers in
the
island, Romeo Serra, resigned area vice president for Mindanao of PCCI,
today said.

Serra, who said he is still chair of the Mindanao Business Council
despite
his resignation from PCCI, alleged that internal and external politics
took
its toll on the islands' business chambers.

He said FBCM chair Elena Haw of Tacurong City, a close ally of former
MinBC
chair Joji Ilagan-Bian, is behind efforts to oust him. Haw and Bian
reportedly had a tiff with former PCCI vice president for Mindanao
Antonio
Santos, Serra's predecessor and ally.(To be updated)
