Gov’t,MILF: ceasefire holds

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/10 November) — The government and the Moro Islamic
Liberation Front have reiterated their commitment to sustain the ceasefire
between the two parties despite “isolated cases of hostilities in
Maguindanao,” a joint statement of the GRP-MILF Coordinating Committees on the
Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) released today (Friday) said.

The statement, prepared after the 37th Regular Meeting of the CCCH, stressed
that both parties will protect the gains and goodwill achieved so far amid the
challenges in the peace negotiations and will quickly resolve all the pending
ceasefire-related issues and matters that could affect the peace process.

The government and MILF peace panels have yet to break the impasse in the
peace negotiations over territory. The government peace panel has up to
November 15 to present its new proposal to the MILF. Read full story here.
