43 bolt North Cotabato jail

Forty three inmates of the North Cotabato Provincial Jail escaped around 1a.m. Friday after forcibly extricated from  the jail by suspected members of the MILF, according to the police and the military.  The Moro Islamic Liberation Front denied they ordered it.

As of this writing the police have not yet released an update about a pursuit operation it conducted together with the military.

Gov. Emmanuel Piñol was quick to blame the MILF, but the military said they are awaiting investigation from the police. Major Randolph Cabangbang, spokesperson of the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command, said they will give the MILF the benefit of the doubt as they respect the primacy of the peace process.

They also intend to elevate the matter to the Joint Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities (Joint CCCH).
