Necessary ammendments for journalists

Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. announced some necessary ammendments to Senate Bill 2137 or the Anti-Terror Bill, which Senate approved today.

Pimentel said among amendments in the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act will exempt journalists, lawyers and doctors from being compelled to reveal to law enforcers their communications with their sources of information, as well as with their clients and patients.

He said it is “one of 89 amendments” to Senate Bill 2137. Read report here. But will it be enough to ensure civil liberties remain intact, as critics of the Act view this law?
