MILF warns of ceasefire collapse over violations

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has warned the ceasefire it forged with the Philippine government might collapse in the wake of what the separatist group calls a show of “arrogance and defiance” by launching “consistent and deliberate violations” of the agreement in Maguindanao and North Cotabato.

The warning came half a year after the peace negotiation between the
government and the MILF was stalled over the issue of ancestral domain.

“The government is repeating what it did in 2000 and 2003 and it begins to
appear that its avowed policy of the ‘primacy of the peace process’ is now a
rhetoric,” Mohagher Iqbal, chief MLF peace negotiator, said in a statement.

Iqbal, who sent the statement in response to reporters’ queries on the
outbreak of fighting in said provinces, also warned the MILF will not take the
‘aggression’ sitting down.

The MILF and government signed the ceasefire agreement on July 18, 1997 and
revived it in 2001, the year after ousted president Joseph Estrada launched an
all-out war against the rebel group.

Meanwhile, Von Al-Haq, chairperson of the MILF Coordinating Committee on
Cessation of Hostilities, told Luwaran, the MILF website, that the first major
violation of the military particularly the 6th Infantry Division under Brig.
Gen. Nehemias Pajarito was the non-compliance with the Joint Resolution on
Midsayap signed on January 28, 2007.

The resolution stipulates, among others, the withdrawal of government and MILF
forces from the municipality.

Al-Haq said the military also violated the February 20, 2007 Subsidiary
Agreement to the Joint Resolution on January 28, 2007, which provides for the
withdrawal of government troops from barangay Rangeban 3 to Lower Glad and
from Mudseng to Nes in order to preclude a repetition of armed clashes.

internet cafe, installed with a counter strike, the that’s it. at least, they can still get up after being killed or beaten up.

btw, disable friendly fire option, it’s the best. ^^
