JOB OPENING: at LEGAL RIGHTS and NATURAL RESOURCES CENTER (LRC-KSK/Friends of the Earth-Philippines)

The LRC-KSK is a policy and legal research and advocacy institution. Its main goal is to empower the marginalized and disenfranchised peoples directly dependent on our natural resources so as to be able to effect ecologically sustainable, culturally appropriate, economically viable, gender-sensitive, equitable use, management, conservation and development of our natural resources. LRC-KSK is also the official Philippine affiliate of Friends of the Earth International (FOE).
Job Opening for a Law Paralegal (LPL) for its DVO office.


Position Title : Law Paralegal

Team/Section : Regional OfficeReports to : Regional Office Team Leader

Job Summary:

The Law Paralegal will assist in extending the Center’s services to partner communities including local support groups and networks by providing input and assistance in providing legal support to community partners.

Duties Performed:

  1. Conducts fieldwork to communities being serviced by the Center
  2. Conducts paralegal trainings and briefings for communities, support groups and networks
  3. Provides initial assessment for possible acceptance of new communities
  4. Prepares community profiles and strategy papers
  5. Assist the Regional Team Leader in coordinating with local lawyers retained by the Center
  6. Assists the Regional Lawyer in handling cases
  7. Conducts legal research on specific topics as requested by partner communities and networks and provides appropriate recommendations

    13. Manages and maintains the legal library

    Job Specifications:

    1. Must currently be enrolled in a law school or have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law
    2. With knowledge of Indigenous Peoples issues and other issues of the Center
    3. With demonstrated skills in legal research and writing
    4. Team player and able to relate well with people
