(Updated) It’s all in the family: four Piñols run for top posts

KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/28 March) — Four Piñols will be vying for various positions in North Cotabato in the May 14 elections.
Three term-governor Emmanuel Piñol will be running as vice governor while vice governor Jesus Sacdalan is running for governor of  North Cotabato. Provincial administrator Bernardo Piñol Jr. will be fielded as 2nd district Representative, while Efren Piñol and Joselito Piñol will be running as mayors of Magpet and M’lang towns.

Efren is the incumbent mayor of Magpet while Joselito is incumbent vice mayor of M’lang.

Three more Piñol brothers are in North Cotabato:  Noli as chief security; Ferdinand as executive assistant and Socrates as private secretary.

Pinol, however, maintains he is not building a political dynasty. He said his brothers’ fate depends on the people, not him.

“We are 11 in the family. I think it is not bad to field my brothers in politics. People will decide on my brother’s fate in politics, not me,” he said.

Pinol challenged his critics to field their respective candidates in the May 14 polls instead of accusing him of building a political dynasty.

“If my political critics believe that they have better candidates then why don’t they field them and let the people choose  the best leader?” Piñol said. (Williamor A. Magbanua/MindaNews)
