Military says terror threats in Mindanao isolated cases

M21advisories (DAVAO CITY)–Travel advisories issued by the American and
Australian governments have basis but threats of terror attacks are isolated
cases and do not represent the general picture of the security situation in
Mindanao, a military official said.

Major Randolph Cabangbang, spokesperson of the military’s Eastern Mindanao
Command said the advisories must be based on recent clashes with a group of
the Moro National Liberation Front led by Ustadz Habier Malik.

He said another basis could be the possibility that other “lawless groups”
will take advantage of the rift between the MNLF and the government.
The government, MNLF and the Organization of Islamic Conference signed a final
peace agreement in 1996. (Standby for more updates)
