A day for the environment in court

Today, June 05, the city government will have its day in court to present why the
ban on aerial spraying must be implemented as scheduled.

According to pro-ban advocate, IDIS, in a press release environment groups will present plaques of appreciation to Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte, councilors Nenita Orcullo and Leo Avila.
Orcullo, who lost a reelection bid which she attributed to her support for the ban, was the first to propose the ban at the city council in 2004. Avila chaired the committee on environment and natural resources which proposed and heard the legislation until it was passed and signed as ordinance by Duterte in March.

The rites would be held in Grand Men Seng Hotel at 2p.m.

IDIS also announced that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will address the world on the necessity of protecting the environment today, considered as World Environment Day.
