One out of four violators of the election gun ban in Southeastern Mindanao was a minor, the regional police said Wednesday at the lifting of the gun ban to mark the end of the election period.

National Police regional office, told MindaNews Thursday that they apprehended
a total of 125 persons during the election period from January 14 to June 13,
33 of whom were minors.

He said they filed charges against 92 violators but couldn’t against the
remaining 33 because they were minors.Under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act or RA 9344, juvenile offenders 15
years and one day to 18 years of age are supposed to be turned over to the
Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Manalang said they were able to seize a total of 169 firearms and 30 deadly
