Duterte takes oath with congressmen, except Nograles

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/28 June) —  President Arroyo’s two Dabawenyo allies, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and House Majority Floor Leader Prospero Nograles, will not take their oath of offices at the same time.

Duterte will take his oath Saturday, with two of Davao’s three congressmen at the City Hall entrance with a reception at the Grand Men Seng Hotel.

Judge Antonina Escovilla of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 2 will administer the mayor’s oath while Judge Emmanuel Carpio of the Regional Trial Court Branch 16 Judge Emmanuel Carpio will swear in reelected 2nd district Rep. Vincent Garcia and 3rd district Rep. Isidro Ungab.

Nograles told MindaNews in a text message Thursday that he will take his oath in Manila over the weekend, administered by President Arroyo.

He said he wasn’t invited to Duterte’s oath-taking. The invitation sent by the Office of the City Mayor for the oath-taking did not have the legislator’s name on the program.
