Flashback: Colors in Darapanan

The photo above is one of my favorites. I took this during a visit two years ago to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Peace Panel Office in Darapanan, somwhere in Maguindanao.

At that time, we interviewed the new MILF chair Al Haj Murad who just concluded a general assembly of the MILF in the same camp.

I became too interested in the elaborate wall ornaments inside the office because at that time Murad was very optimistic about the peace process with the Philippine government.

At that time, I was looking at the photo as a type or a symbol of the bright prospects of peace ahead of us.

The same photo becomes a recollection of the same insights in the past weeks. We had been to a roller coaster ride of challenges.

Hopefully, the peace talks can resume and overtake any more incidents that endanger our hopes for peace in Mindanao. I wish the colors of peace will not fade away.
